PROGRAMS
At Helping Hands, there are three types of opportunities for non medical volunteers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Teacher Volunteer Program ( TVP)
Under its HHEP project, Helping Hands provides volunteering opportunities for people interested to involve themselves in school curricular activities and work for the betterment of the school and the children of Nepal.
There are two types of volunteering opportunities available—long-term and short-term opportunities. A typical long-term opportunity would extend from six months to a year. We would prefer volunteers for an entire academic year for teaching as this would be most effective. Long-term volunteers may involve themselves in basic curriculum courses, extra curricular activities and in school betterment and management projects. We also provide a trek for two weeks in the Himalayas of Nepal, as a leisure activity for our volunteers.
A typical short-term volunteering package would consist of four weeks of work at the school and two weeks of trekking in the Himalayas of Nepal. Short term volunteers will be limited to participating in extra curricular activities only, as their time span is too short for involvement in school management activities or other school curriculum courses. However, short term volunteers may choose to extend their stay, but will have to pay extra for the extended stay.
The Dates:
The school is closed from mid June to mid August for summer vacation. It is also closed from mid October to mid November for festival holidays. Besides these times, volunteers may choose to go any time of the year. However, the beginning of the school session is always the best time to go.
Including Surya Boarding School, there are two private Elementary English boarding schools, public elementary schools, a high school and a campus for grades 11-12 and undergraduate courses are located in Khandbari.
Fax: 011 977 29 560 230 Phone: 011 977 29 560 230
